In Vijayawada, the Benz Circle and Kanaka Durga flyovers are all set to be inaugurated today to ease the people of Vijayawada city's traffic congestion. The inaugural event will be attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari from New Delhi at 11.30 am on Friday and CM YS Jagan from the Tadepalli camp office will start the Fly-Over. In addition, 61 projects with an approximate cost of Rs 15,591.9 crore across the state will be built by the Union Minister and ten projects will be dedicated to the country. Minister M Shankar Narayana of State Roads and Buildings will formally inaugurate vehicular traffic from Bhavanipuram through the Kanaka Durga flyover. On Thursday night, State Roads and Buildings Minister M Shankar Narayana, District Collector AMD Intiaz, MLAs Malladi Vishnu, and Jogi Ramesh inspected the Kanakadurga flyover's inaugural arrangements.
Minister Shankar Narayana, speaking on the occasion, said that the Kanaka Durga flyover, built at a cost of Rs 501 crore with the highest technical values, is Vijayawada city's crown jewel. As part of the programme, projects will be built in the state at an approximate cost of Rs 7,584.68 crore and completed projects will be inaugurated at a cost of Rs 8,007.22 crore. On the other hand, at a cost of Rs 7,584.68 crore, the construction of 878.4 km of new national highways will be initiated. The government, meanwhile, will dedicate the 532.92 km of road and ROBs built to the state. While, in a statement on Thursday, BJP President Somu Veerraju said the traffic congestion in Vijayawada was going to end with the inauguration of the Kanaka Durga flyover. A special attraction in the country will be the 2.6 km long, twisted Kanaka Durga flyover.
