Amaravati: Apple Inc. is expected to invest in Kopparthi district in Kadapa and build at least 50,000 jobs. Discussions are underway with the firm, Industry Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy told. He said the Apple company has six factories in China, where the employment at each manufacturing unit is between 1 lakh and 6 lakh. Andhra Pradesh 's government is also negotiating with the company to allow them to set up such a huge production unit in the state. When asked about the importance of the project's investment he said it would be determined in the days ahead.

He also reacted to the Bulk Drug Park to be built in the state at the same time and said it would create jobs for youth in lakhs. The major pharmaceutical companies expressed their commitment to invest in Andhra Pradesh once the project was completed. He said the government would assign the land to the businesses only after providing hundred percent infrastructure such as drainage, water, road connectivity, electricity and other critical elements.

He said that for the sake of publicity, the YSRCP government would not come out of the fake Memorandum of Understandings, like what the previous TDP government did. He said the worth of the MoUs entered at that time by CM N Chandrababu Naidu was about Rs 32 Cr, but only Rs 50,000 Cr were realised. The only big business introduced by the TDP government was the Kia vehicle manufacturing company, which also burden the state exchequer at the expense of heavy subsidies.

The minister added that the present government will not allow such MoUs, but all the permits will be granted in a time-bound manner to those who are interested and ask them to create the companies and manufacture the goods.
