Category: General news

According to the authorities, a 19-year-old man with an assault rifle opened fire at the Chabad of Poway synagogue in Poway, California on Saturday morning. The incident left one dead and three severely injured.

Four people, who were hit with bullets, were shifted to Palomar Medical Center at around 12 PM, as per Poway Mayor Steve Vaus and San Diego County Sheriff William Gore. Vaus also confirmed one of the victims was a woman who succumbed to their wounds. The three other victims were a teenage girl, two men, who are currently under treatment in the hospital. However, the condition is said to be stable.

The investigation proved it to be a hate crime. The alleged shooter is said to have drawn inspiration from Mosque attack in NewZealand in March and from a crime happened six months ago where an armed shooter killed more than 11 people and injured six others in the deadliest attack on Jews in the history of the United States.

The shooter has been identified as John Earnest, who studies at Cal State University, and he surrendered himself in shortly after the shooting. A manifesto has been released and it stated John Earnest had plans to kills Jews and he considered Newzealand Mosque, Jesus Christ, and Adolf Hitler as role models. However, John doesn’t have any contact with law enforcement earlier.

Earnest shared the manifesto with a new username 8chan and announced his plan to live-stream his actions on Facebook. However, the social media platform appears to have deleted the profile before it gained widespread attention. His ideas revolved around the concept of men's rights, anti-feminism and misogynistic view.
