Ajay Bhupathi who roused to fame with the super success of his directorial debut ‘RX 100’ has tested positive for COVID-19. Taking to social media on Wednesday, the 34-year-old hinted indirectly that he has contracted the global pandemic with the word “Vachesindi” (It came). Moments later, he came up with a subsequent tweet which read “Thvaralo vastha… plasma istha” (I shall recover soon and donate plasma). Wishes poured in from his followers and well-wishes for a speedy recovery.
The promising filmmaker is one among the several celebrities from Telugu cinema who have tested positive for coronavirus in recent months. The list includes Teja, RRR' producer DVV Danayya, pop singer Smitha, playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam and SS Rajamouli. However, the ‘Baahubali’ director confirmed that he and his family members have tested COVID-19 negative with no symptoms after two weeks of quarantine. He also mentioned that they would be ready for plasma donation after three weeks once enough antibodies will be developed.
Ajay Bhupathi worked as an AD to Veeru Potla and Ram Gopal Varma before fulfilling his directorial dream with RX 100. Set against the backdrop of Atreyapuram village, the romantic-thriller stunned the Telugu audience with its unforeseen climax, delightful songs and applaud-worthy performances. The obviousness of a rich-girl and poor-boy love story got an unexpected twist in the rustic drama and it brilliantly explored the male psyche and the destructive side of one-sided genuine love.
Currently, Ajay Bhupathi is occupied with Maha Samudram which reportedly stars Sharwanand and Siddharth in lead roles. The leading lady in this multistarrer is yet to be announced.
