After remaking ‘Miss Granny’ in Telugu with Samantha Akkineni, veteran producer Suresh Babu has reportedly bought the rights of three South Korean films, ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Lucky Key’ and the 2017 action-comedy ‘Midnight Runners’. While there is no update regarding the first two projects, the Telugu remake of ‘Midnight Runners’ is currently in the shooting stage. Jointly bankrolled by Suresh Productions and Sunitha Tati, the film is directed by Sudheer Varma of ‘Swamy Ra Ra’ and ‘Ranarangam’ fame.
Meanwhile, T-town speculations are rife that the Telugu version of ‘Midnight Runners’ has been titled ‘Shakini Dhakini’. Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas are reprising the titular roles in the action-comedy and the first schedule has already been wrapped up. Stepping foot into the role of trainee cops, both the divas take matters into their own hands after witnessing kidnapping and human trafficking while on a night out.
For the first time, Regina and Nivetha will be performing stunt sequences in the film. Opening up on the same, the former told a news portal “I loved the original version when I saw it. I am super excited to play the role, and I have already shot for one schedule. We have action sequences, for which I need to train so that the sequences look natural and authentic.”
Before the lockdown, Regina Cassandra moved her leg alongside Chiranjeevi for a special number in ‘Acharya’. Terming it as her first and last appearance in an item song, the Awe actress said she was floored by Chiranjeevi’s compliment on her expressions and dance moves.
