Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has removed the MP as the chairman of the Subordinate Legislation Committee, in a huge shock to YSRCP Lok Sabha MP from Narsapuram, Raghurama Krishnam Raju. The Lok Sabha Speaker has issued a notification to that effect. With effect from October 9, the Lok Sabha Speaker appointed YSRCP Lok Sabha MP from Machilipatnam Vallabhaneni Balashowri as Chairman of the Subordinate Legislation Committee. In addition, the Lok Sabha Speaker appointed members, including Telangana Lok Sabha MP Nama Nageshwar Rao, to the Subordinate Legislation Committee. Nageswara Rao runs Madhucon Ventures, an infrastructure firm. The Lok Sabha Speaker cracked the whip on Raghurama Raju after a group of MPs led by Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy filed a disqualification petition against Raghurama Raju for allegedly breaching the discipline of the party by openly commenting against the president of the party, criticizing the government's policy decisions, making wild allegations against party MPs and also questioning the party's status.

A memorandum to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla in New Delhi was submitted by the YSRCP MPs. The memorandum was signed on behalf of YSRCP President and AP CM YS Jagan by YSRC MP Margani Bharat from Rajahmundry. A show-cause notice was also given to Raghurama Raju by Vijaysai Reddy. Raghurama  Raju, for his part, challenged the legal sanctity of the show-cause notice claiming that the show-cause notice was issued on the letterhead of the YSR Congress party, while the name of the portion is registered as Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party as per the EC records. The Andhra Pradesh High Court was also moved by Raghurama Raju to try to avoid the YSRCP's attempts to disqualify him from the Lok Sabha membership and remove him from the party. With Raghurama Raju being replaced as the chairman of the Subordinate Legislation Committee by the Lok Sabha Speaker, it remains to be seen if the Lok Sabha MP will be excluded.

Such are the big questions in political circles doing the rounds. Recently, in relation with an alleged loan default case, the CBI booked Raju. Based on a complaint from Punjab National Bank, the CBI had registered against the creditor; power company Ind Barath, allegedly causing Punjab National Bank and other consortium banks a loss of approximately Rs 826 crore. Over a host of concerns, Raghurama Raju was critical of the YSRCP administration, He even opposed the auction of the assets of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, including the government's plans to implement English medium education in all government schools, and raised the alleged diversion of sand for sale on the black market. Raghurama Raju also said that CM YS Jagan never gave him an audience to discuss these issues.
