A Karimnagar NRI succumbed to novel coronavirus in Saudi Arabia. This is the first death of a Karimnagar NRI in the oil-rich-Kingdom due to the pandemic. A pall of gloom descended among the community as news of his death spread.
The 48-year-old Mohammed Imtiaz Hussain, a native of Sawaran street in Karimnagar town, was working in a telecommunication services company for the last few years in the port city of Jeddah. Earlier also, he had worked in Saudi Arabia in the health sector and returned to home only to come back again later.
Imtiaz had been diagnosed with Covid-19 and was battling for his life for the past few weeks. He died of complications from the illness on Friday and was buried on Saturday in a designated cemetery in Dhaban, located outskirts of Jeddah city for the burial of patients who died with the virus, in the presence of his siblings and friends. Noted Karimnagar social activist Ahmed Nawab has completed the required legal formalities.
The total number of people who died in Saudi Arabia with the virus is 2,887 as of Saturday, according to the Ministry of Health. An average of 4-5 Indians dies in Saudi Arabia with coronavirus each day.
