Kanna Lakshminarayana, a former minister and AP BJP leader, has been ordered by a city court to pay Rs.1 Crore in compensation to his daughter-in-law in a domestic abuse case. Srilakshmi Keerti was also ordered to be protected by the police by the Vijayawada First Additional Chief Metropolitan Court.
Kanna Nagaraju, Lakshminarayana's son, married Srilakshmi Keerti in 2006. Kaushika Manasa, the couple's daughter, was born in 2013. Everything proceeded nicely, according to the victim, from 2006 to 2015. Vijaya Lakshmi is said to have then thrown her daughter-in-law and the child out of the house.
Under the Domestic Violence Act, the former minister's family has been named as defendants in the court. She pleaded with the court to protect her and her daughter by providing housing and medical care.
After hearing the plea, the court ordered Kanna's family to accommodate Keerti and her daughter at their home, if not then asked to pay Rs 50,000 per month. The magistrate further ordered the respondents to pay Keerti Rs 50,000 for the treatment of her daughter.
Srilakshmi and her daughter were to share the house, according to the agreement. The judge ordered that all of these be carried out within three months of the legal orders being issued.
