TDP Visakhapatnam South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh met with AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy as reported in the last couple of weeks in political circles. He came to mark their formal entry into the YSRCP with his two sons, on whom the Chief Minister spread his party shawls. MLA Ganesh, however, did not wear the YCP party flag to prevent legal complications. Vizag South MLA, speaking after joining the ruling party, said that AP CM had a lot of guts and confidence to enact major welfare programmes without failure.
The leadership of the TDP would have no such guts to introduce Cash Transfer schemes on such a large scale. As we see, it has become a practise for TDP MLAs and leaders to suggest they're joining the YSRCP attracted by Jagan Reddy's welfare programmes. When the TDP was in control, the opposing leaders joining it used to say that at that time they were drawn to the developmental programmes being implemented in the nook and corner of the state. Development has become a taboo subject in the politics of Andhra Pradesh today.
Even the leaders of the TDP could not speak courageously about the huge development projects launched by Naidu. They were being pressured to say that both growth and welfare were given equal importance to Naidu. On the other hand, the leaders of the YSRCP spoke along the lines of ordinary voters in poor localities and were not involved in big ventures such as Amaravatri or Polavaram struggling for their everyday living.
