At the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) headquarters, CPI leaders staged a protest demanding the government to assist the flood victims. CPI leader Azeez Pasha asked CM KCR to visit Hyderabad's flood-affected areas to learn about the problems. He also called on the government to build a wall on the bank of the river Musi and said that the government's incompetence caused the city to be submerged after heavy rains.
After heavy rainfall on Tuesday that claimed over 50 lives, Hyderabad city was flooded. Like on Friday, with the recovery of two more bodies, the death toll rose to 53. The rescue and search activities were supervised by police officials to track the people washed away in the water. Minister KTR and civic officials paid a visit to the flood-affected areas and consoled the people with the significant harm caused to the people living in the low-lying areas. The minister also handed over Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia cheques on Saturday to individuals who lost their family members in the floods.
