Category: Andhrapradesh

Andhra Pradesh led the list in successfully introducing the Government Health Insurance Scheme in the state in the latest progress, according to the National Sample Survey. More people in the state have benefited from the government insurance system, with a total of 76.1 percent of people treated under YSR Aarogyasri. It is estimated, however, that only 0.1 per cent of private insurance policies are insured. The National Sample Survey showed that, except in the Telugu states, no other state has earned such a medical advantage.

In the southern states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana support the poor more than Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. On the other hand, 85.9 per cent of the people in the country have no insurance at all, the survey report says. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, pocket expenditure has been reduced due to schemes such as Aarogyasri, according to the survey. The survey showed that people with cancer, heart and nerve diseases are more likely to suffer. Earlier, only those who have a white ration card in the past had access to the Aarogyasri card, while now it has widened to others with an annual income of not more than 5 lakh. As a result, Aarogyasri covers over 95% of the families in the state and the number of diseases has risen from 1,059 to over 2,000.
